Around Here identity

Around Here is an independent local information service. It is not a government agency.

Address lookup

You may enter a street address so Around Here can determine geographic relevance and the jurisdictions that apply to that location. Address lookup is processed on Around Here servers. It is used for soft jurisdiction and service-area context — not parcel-level legal certainty.

After a successful lookup, Around Here uses an opaque identifier (a resolution token, or rid) to keep personalized context. The raw residential address is not placed into public URLs. If a link includes a raw address in the URL, Around Here does not use that URL to resolve the address.

Street addresses are not stored on Around Here accounts. Saving your area stores jurisdiction membership for that saved area, not a public street address.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use Around Here, you may provide:

• an address for lookup
• optional account information, such as email and a password
• resident reports and related location context that is not a raw street address
• correction submissions, including an optional name and email
• Ask questions, so Around Here can look up available source-backed information

Account data in the current runtime is local and in-memory. It is not durable civic-database persistence, and email is not verified in this runtime.

Automatically processed technical information

Around Here may process limited technical request information as needed to operate and protect the service, including rate limiting. This policy does not claim that Around Here runs third-party advertising or analytics products, and it does not claim that no server logs exist.

Cookies and local preferences

Around Here stores language and color-theme preferences on your device, including cookies and local storage, so those choices can persist. If you sign in to an account, Around Here also uses a session cookie to keep you signed in on this device.

Resident reports

Submitting a report requires a resident account, so reports are associated with that account. Around Here does not promise anonymity. Public report pages display a generic community-member label rather than your email. Safe infrastructure observations may become public immediately as unverified resident reports. This is not 911 and not a city work-order system.

Data sharing

Around Here does not sell personal information. Information is processed as needed to operate the service. This policy does not claim that information is never transmitted to the systems that host or run Around Here.

Security

Around Here uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to the current service, including opaque address tokens and avoiding raw addresses in public URLs. No service can promise perfect security.

Children

Around Here is a general local-information service. It does not use a separate age gate. It is not directed at children, and it does not seek personal information from children.
