#list-articles-category-36-2075 { --categoryColor: #243b81; } Sugar Land Adopts FY27 Budget SUGAR LAND, TX — September 16, 2026 - Sugar Land City Council adopted a $541.5 million budget and a property tax rate of $0.371116 per $100 of valuation for fiscal year 2027, continuing investments in public safety, infrastructure and the day-to-day services the community relies on. The FY27 budget includes $344.4 million for operations and $139.0 million for capital projects. The new fiscal year begins October 1. The budget was adopted following a series of public meetings, workshops and hearings where City Council evaluated community priorities, rising costs, service demands and the resources needed to maintain the high-quality services Sugar Land residents expect. For the median Sugar Land homestead with a taxable value of $369,495, the adopted tax rate results in an estimated City property tax bill of $1,371 annually, an increase of approximately $58.83 per year, or $4.90 per month, compared with the current fiscal year. Sugar Land continues to prioritize strong financial management while balancing the cost of providing services with the impact on residents. The City’s property tax represents only one portion of a resident’s overall property tax bill, with other taxing entities including Fort Bend County, school districts and special districts independently establishing their own tax rates.
